In the designing joinery faze we want to make a window with three
wings: 2 mobile and one fixed.
To begin the design of a window do the following:
- Select the component from Project Explorer (upper right
corner).
- Select the Design tab – the one that contains the
designing sheet (lower left).
On the left side of the sheet there are 6 zones which allow
different types of operations:
- Shapes. Consists of available shapes. Choosing one of
these shapes will create a frame with the selected shape. Depending
on the license some buttons may be unavailable.
- Splittings. Next step: the construction of a frame means
how it is divided as well, at different quotations using mullion
type profiles. The buttons from this zone allow this exact thing:
dividing the selecting wing at certain quotations or
percentage.
- Wings. Everything that is mobile on a window is set
using the buttons from this window. To add a wing you need to
select the slot in which to put it and choose the type of opening
you desire. Depending on the license some buttons may be
unavailable.
- Areas. Allows the introduction in the joinery structure
of the area type elements: glass, panel. etc. For the companies
that work as dealers or for profile vendors that calculate projects
for their clients, there is the option to offer without the glass.
Depending on the license some buttons may be unavailable.
- Joinnings. In many cases windows/doors can bind with one
another using binding profiles, corner profiles or variable angle
profile.
- Miscellaneous. The operations that do not belong to any
of the above have been grouped under this category. Examples:
extension profiles, ornamental glazing beads, insect nets, shutter,
etc. Depending on the license some buttons may be unavailable.
Add frame
The first step is adding a frame and setting its dimensions. For
this click the first button from the Shapes Category (see picture
above). Pressing the rectangle button will add a frame with 1.000
mm width and 1.500 mm height. If we want to change the dimensions,
select the frame (the frame will become green – color of selection)
and change the parameters H and W.
This is done from the
Proprieties Window Geometry
Parameters category (see picture above).
Splitting with mullions
Splitting a wing is done by selecting the area to be divided and
pressing the according dividing button(see picture below).
To create the proposed window we need 2 parameters. We will use the
button highlighted in the picture: Vertical Division. This will
place a mullion in the middle of the selected wing. Later we will
change this mullion to the desired quotation. For this you need to
select the mullion and change the
Quota parameter from the
Proprieties Window,
Division » First point » Quota
(see picture below).
This step is repeated for the second mullion as well which will be
placed at quota 1.400 mm. If everything worked perfectly then the
following picture will be displayed.
Add wing (sash)
Just like we decided we will put 2 sashes: one side hung and on
tilt and turn. To add a wing select the slot in which you want to
introduce the wing and press the button of the wing you want.
To introduce a wing select the left slot (blue slot) and select the
button according to the side hung wing (left blue highlight
button). For the second wing select the right wing (red slot) and
pres the button according to the tilt and turn wing (left red
highlight button) – see picture above. If everything goes as planed
then we will have something similar to the picture below:
In addition I selected the tilt and turn wing and changed the way
it opens from the left side (default) to the right side. The
modified propriety is
Opening accessible from the
Proprieties Window,
Wing » Opening category:
Add glass
Ra Workshop allows multiple selection. Holding down the Ctrl button
you can select multiple items from the worksheet. We will use this
for the glass. While holding down Ctrl we will select the 3 slots
in which we will add glass. After this it will look similar to the
picture below:
Congratulations! The first window is ready!
Once the glass is added the window is finished and it will look
like the picture below:
Although it looks complicated, in reality, it isn’t. You have to
adjust to the fact that the design sheet will automatically set up
as you push buttons. More specifically the proprieties window will
list the attributes of the selected item, the design buttons will
effect the items selected, etc.
