Correctly defining the profiles is essential to obtain accurate
calculations of production. The parameters of a profile varies
depending on the material out of which the profile is made
(aluminum, wood or PVC) and the type of profile (frame, sash,
mullion, etc.).
Important: be aware when changing a
profile geometrical parammeters when using application for
production purpose, because worng values will cause wrong
quatations and wrong production results!
Geometric Parameters
Geometric parameters describe the shape of a profile in terms of
size. Profile geometry in Ra Workshop means sketching the profile’s
shape. The presented design is generic and does not represent an
image of the section profile. This image is only used to help you
enter the correct profile parrameters. This design differs
depending on the type of profile and the type of material.
Geometric parameters measure the height and thickness of the
profile. Use the screenshot above to see what measurement should be
introduced for each type of profile.
- H3 - Internal Mask.
- H2 - Room.
- H1 - External Mask.
- H - Total height of the profile. You cand quick
calculate H parrameter as the about of H1, H2, H3 by click on
'plus' button on the right side of the text box. Be aware that H
parammeter is not always equal to the amount of H1, H2 and H3.
- W1 - Practical width. For example, for a frame, sash,
mullion-type profile this parameter is used for the glazing beads
calculations depending on the thickness of the glass and
gasket.
- W - Total width of the profile. You may copy W1 value
directly in W value text box if the two parammeters are the same by
click on 'plus' button on the right side of the W text box.
Profile Picture
Attaching a picture to the profile is an option. The role of the
images is to allow the user to choose a profile based on the
section.
Profile Consumption Information
- Bar length (mm). The length of the bar out of which the
profile expressed in millimeters is cut out.
- Kg / M. Weight per linear meter of profile. Parameter
used only for aluminum profiles.
- Price Calculation. Select if the price will be
calculated based on profile length or based on weight. When
selecting weight you should also enter the Price/Kg.
- Price / Kg. The price per kilogram of the profile.
Parameter used only for aluminum profiles.
- Generate consumption. By default this option is checked
and means that this profile will be added to the consumption (price
calculation). There is cases when you don't want this to happent.
You need a profile on the design so the quotation will be exactly
calculated but you don't want that profile in the price
(consumption) calculatio (i.e. for a wood frame the glazing bead
will be manufactured directly on the frame profile, that's why in
the price of the frame will be included also the price of the
glazing bead. Ra Workshop application will draw separately the
frame and the glazing bead for quatiation purpose, that why the
glazing bead won't have 'Generate consumption' selected.
- Cutting Tolerance (mm). How much is consumed or how much
is lost during cutting (when the cutter passes through the
profile). The default value is 20 mm. The amount is appliend once
for each profile.
- Binding Tolerance (mm). How many mm are added when the
profiles are bound. Parameter used only for PVC profiles. The
amount is applied at both ends of the profile. The default value is
3 mm.
- Processing Tolerance (mm). It is used for all profiles
and are applied at both ends. An example of use would be the
cutting of mullions.
- Bending Tolerance (mm). How many mm are added when the
profiles are bent. The amount is appliend once for each
profile
- Consumption Category. Category in which this profile is
listed in reports.
Reinforcement Information
This group of parameters is only available for PVC profiles.
- Reinforce profile. Activate it only if the profile is
reinforced. The selection of this parameter leads to activation of
the other two parameters below.
- Reinforcement. Reinforcement type profile code with
which the current profile will be reinforced.
- Reinforcement displacement. Represents the distance in
mm with which the reinforcement will be shorter, at each end, than
the profile in which is used. The default value is 10 mm.
Additional Profiles
Depending on the type and material of the profile there are a
series of additional parameters:
- Fixing mode. Specifies what a profile needs for fixing
the window. You may selected: none, glazing bead, adaptor.
- Uses compensation profile. Specifies if the profile
needs a different type of profile (profile compensation) for fixed
mesh.
- Has thermal break. Parameter used only for aluminum
profiles. Specifies whether or not the profile has thermal break.
Depending on this setting the final price of the profile will be
calculated.
- Number of Tracks. Parameter used only for sliding window
frame type profiles. Specifies the number of tracks on which the
sashes can be placed.
